The Charter Hospice volunteer program trains high school students and places them as hospice volunteers. After 40 hours of medical instruction, provided at no cost, students participate in monthly visits to local skilled nursing facilities. Students communicate with patients, nurses, and staff, gaining experience in medical soft skills. The Charter Hospice Volunteer program extends beyond high school, as many students continue to volunteer after they graduate.
