San Mateo-Foster City School District’s Design Thinking Program at the Bayside STEM Academy has embraced the district, county, state and national goals of creating 21st century learners through transforming into an advanced learning center that integrates curriculum-wide focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and Stanford University’s Design Thinking method. The Bayside STEM Academy fosters engagement and is closing the achievement gap through specialized course work for sixth through eighth-graders.
